A New Story for Humanity

Shaped by bustling metropolises and modern technology, Western culture feels as if it exists on a plane separate from nature. As a result, pollution levels are dangerous, wildlife and marine life are in decline, and climate change is a very real threat that could have devastating effects on our planet. We have been brainwashed by capitalist dogma into thinking that we can achieve success and happiness just by working hard.

This philosophy creates dissonance in our relationships, puts endless stress on our minds and bodies, and blinds us to life’s finer pleasures. The world needs a new narrative—one that promotes solidarity with the environment and new hope for a positive future. This narrative is explored in A New Human Story, a feature-length documentary about the development of the global movement.

The film originated at the New Story Summit. The Findhorn Foundation, a spiritual community of leaders, activists and teachers from around the world, consists of a series of talks designed to spread the inspirational message: The world we seek lies within each of us. Each presentation at the summit suggested a different topic for discussion, including economic issues, social issues, education, the environment, the importance of embracing our diversity and creating a sense of community, and the virtues of friendly competition.

The film contains extensive excerpts from these meetings as well as in-depth conversations with a panel of multicultural teachers, including activist and author Satish Kumar; West McLean and Andean medical scientist Pumarquis Pesingona.

Humanity’s New Story is full of power and insight, calling on the skills and commitment of each generation to write a new chapter in the future of humanity. Drawing on the wisdom of ancient and modern cultural thought, the lessons are clear, ambitious, and relevant to every member of the global community. Calls to action are easily customizable and within reach. Audiences leave the film feeling they have the potential and the tools they need to change the world.
