But during filming, they also meet a cast of characters from Slab City who are as fascinating as all the environmental issues.
VICE thought it would be fun to show you what a typical day looks like in this bizarre realm of perverts, weirdos, veterans, hippies, and plain old lunatics.
People have lived here for free since the late 1940s. Sometime in the early 90’s the place was like a giant flea market. Believe it or not, this land belongs to the California teachers union.
No California culture at all. No shopping malls, apartment buildings, ATVs, off-road racing, congested highways, dirty beaches and arrogant politicians.
