Animal X is an American documentary television series that has aired in over 120 countries. It started in 1997 with 13 half-hour episodes.

In 2002, the US Discovery Channel co-produced the second Animal Planet series with the series’ creator, Australia’s Storyteller Productions, with 13 half-hour episodes each.

In 2004, the Animal X spinoff, the Natural Mystery Unit, was born. Also a co-production of Discovery US and Storyteller, it has been rerun on the Animal Planet Network in the US, as well as many other networks in countries around the world.

Production segments for Animal X Classica (the first two series are widely known) and Animal X Natural Mystery Unit often include eyewitness accounts.

Animal X is a series that reports and investigates strange animals and animal behavior. These episodes often show the Animal X team setting up motion-activated infrared cameras in an attempt to gather evidence of the creature they’re looking for. Or find some form of physical evidence, and they’ll send it off for analysis.

Still, these events avoided definitive conclusions, and the new evidence presented by the team was often described as inconclusive or unclassifiable. Animal X takes a cautious approach to Cryptids, rarely taking a stance of outright skepticism.
