CHANNEL 9’s hit police show Australian drug lords may have wowed audiences, but the revealing series has riled police who claim they are risking their lives.

While the NSW Police Force and its media arm have signed on to the series, the first episode was enough to prompt complaints from officers that the show gave away the identities of undercover agents.

Those concerns are understood to have prompted last-minute changes to the second episode about Olympic kayaker and drug dealer Nathan Baggaley.

There are many who don’t understand why NSW Police are cooperating at this level to expose sensitive operations, a police source said of the police’s decision to back a show highlighting undercover operations.

NSW Police Association president Scott Webb confirmed officers had complained that the show – where officers were paid to have officers in – had gone too far.

One complaint is that while the faces of the undercover officers are blurred, their voices can be heard clearly and recordings of their bodies make them identifiable.
