Warren Buffett is one of the richest people in the world. The secrets behind his success form the backbone of the feature-length HBO documentary “Becoming Warren Buffett.” In stark contrast to his vast wealth and influence, Buffett possesses a warm and human touch. He drives himself to work each day, even stopping at a local McDonald’s en route for an inexpensive breakfast sandwich. To this day, he still lives in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

But behind his pleasingly unassuming exterior, he was one of the most distinguished businessmen in history. His ambition started at a very young age. With a love of numbers and a desire to be his own boss, he went door-to-door as a young man, selling newspapers, chewing gum and soda. He filed his first tax return at 13 and started selling stocks at 20.

Along the way, he encountered several obstacles, including social awkwardness, a severe fear of public speaking, and uneven academic performance. Through determination and hard work, he overcame his shortcomings and eventually became CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, the holding company that owns some of the world’s best-known companies.

The film includes interviews with Buffett’s family, friends and business associates, whose comments complete his intricate narrative loop.

At the heart of the film, however, is an insightful conversation with Buffett himself. Buffett has not been shy about expressing his gratitude to those who have made him successful in his personal and business ventures. In his simple, humble and gracious way, he articulates how to achieve and maintain prosperity in all areas of life. We share his joy as he reflects on the great fortune of meeting his wife, purchasing his first home, and his dedication to philanthropy. In fact, Buffett has donated most of his wealth to charitable organizations and has urged other billionaires to do the same.

Become Warren Buffett is a touching and relatable portrait of one of the most fascinating and influential people in the world.
