Following the success of the WWII In Color series, TWI/Carlton has produced this documentary chronicling the history of the British Empire.
Although perhaps a better title would be Twentieth-Century British Empire or The Fall of the British Empire, this is an excellent book for the library of imperial historians or anyone interested in this fascinating period of history. Great addition.
The show is divided into three distinct parts, starting with the heyday of the Empire, when Queen Victoria was proclaimed Empress of India, and ending with the handover of Hong Kong in 1997. The rise and fall of the greatest empire is full of contradictions and shows how Britain is a multicultural society today.
