Confucius had a hard life and knew the suffering of the people well. He lived in an era when warlords fought constantly and Chinese civilization was shrouded in shadow.

Most importantly, Confucius wanted to change the Chinese society of his time and save his country and people from the misery and suffering of the country at that time. He was the son of an older great warrior and his concubine, and seemed to have inherited his father’s hideous appearance.

After his father died, he and his mother were ostracized by their families, but poverty did not stop Confucius from continuing to learn and grow. In time, he built a school and welcomed all kinds of students, from the sons of leaders to the sons of penniless workers, and taught the importance of hard work, education for all, and disregard for class and wealth.

He dreams of finding a leader who will become his advisor and thus bring about the great social change he envisions. For a time, he served as governor of his hometown, and within a few years put his teachings into practice with great success. However, he made enemies and was soon exiled to the countryside.

He continued to search for a leader who could save China, but the truths of Confucius did not attract those who could change society. He died thinking that his great mission had failed, not realizing the enormous impact he would have on future generations, especially Asians.
