In 1832, Irish immigrants built one of the first railroads in the United States in the Pennsylvania backcountry.

Workers built the main line from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh at mile 59, known as the Duffy’s Cut.

They leave Ireland, a land nearly destroyed by hunger, disease and crime, hoping to start a new life, but within days they are all dead and their bodies will be buried in an unmarked grave.

What happened to these men remained a mystery for nearly two centuries. Her disappearance was covered up by some very influential forces.

Now, a serendipitous discovery by twin brothers Bill and Frank Watson has brought this abandoned secret to light. This story opens a very dark chapter in American history. The brothers join forces with other historians and scholars to uncover the truth behind the deaths of these missing Irish railway workers.

They combine old-school forensics and detective work to uncover the real story behind the railroad’s death.

The discovery of a secret document details how Irish migrant workers were hired to work on Mile 59. It was also admitted that when the men died, the railway went to great lengths to conceal their deaths.
