Diana: In Her Own Words is a TV documentary that aired on Channel 4 in the UK on 6 August 2017. The film is produced by Kaboom Film and Television, UK. The film includes footage of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, discussing various aspects of her personal life, including her marriage to Prince Charles, recorded during her conversations with voice coaches in 1992 and 1993.

In July 2017, Channel 4 plans to air the documentary on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death. On July 30, the Mail on Sunday reported that Diana’s brother, the ninth Earl Spencer, had urged Channel 4 not to play his sister’s tapes, fearing it would cause grief to their two sons. His concerns were later echoed by royal commentators and friends of the late princess, including Rosa Monckton, who plans to write to broadcasters urging them not to air the footage, which she says The video is “not in the public domain”.

The documentary received mixed reviews from critics and garnered Channel 4’s highest overnight ratings in more than a year. The film averaged 3.5 million viewers, with a peak of 4.1 million, according to the data.

The documentary aired on PBS in the US in a slightly modified form, titled Diana – Her Story.

The National Geographic documentary of the same name, Diana: In Her Own Words, which was released the same year, was also built around, but has nothing to do with, previously unaired interviews. The documentary, by filmmakers Tom Jennings and David Tillman, uses interviews from 1991 originally filmed for Andrew Morton’s biography Diana: Her True Story.
