Dogs and Us: The Secret of a Friendship

As the saying goes, dogs are man’s best friend. There’s a reason this saying has been passed down through the generations. Dogs are one of the most commonly kept pets. They can be groomed in any weather and can even be a source of company in some professional situations. Dogs are often described as loyal, but they can also be very fierce animals with excellent memories and a willingness to learn.

Scientifically, they have the same emotional responses as humans. The process of communicating with dogs is one of their more interesting qualities, as they have been shown to understand commands given by their owners, the tone of voice they use when giving them, and even their facial expressions. They may even adjust their behavior based on how much they feel being seen or watched by their owners.

Dogs also have a wide field of vision, which makes them excellent shepherds. In Norway, farmers can find companions, even working partners, in huskies. As distant relatives of wolves, their stamina and strength make them ideal for assisting their owners like sled dogs, often alerting them to danger. They are also great hunters and are much loved and trusted by their owners for their intelligence and worth.

Some dogs have such a keen sense of smell that they can be trained to sniff out drugs, guns, explosives, and even certain diseases like cancer. Some well-trained cadaver dogs are able to detect human remains. This makes them useful partners for crime scene investigators searching for dead bodies and professionals using K9 teams to detect cancer cells.

They’re also great companions for people with certain disorders like Asperger’s. This trait refers to good experiences and friendships that most people have at least once. It features dogs in atypical situations, proving just how special they are. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll love learning more about the furry quadrupeds we call our friends.
