This three-part documentary series examines the final years of the Arab-Israeli peace process from the perspective of presidents and prime ministers, their generals and ministers, and those behind suicide bombings and assassinations. The series reveals what happened behind the scenes as the peace process collapsed and uprising violence erupted.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak persuaded US President Bill Clinton to devote the last 18 months of his term to making peace with Yasser Arafat. But after tough negotiations, the deal never materialized. Ariel Sharon then made a controversial visit to the al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, which is also a holy site for the Jewish people.

Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell is trying to bring about peace between Israel and the Palestinians. However, his efforts were derailed by his own uncompromising peers. And the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat himself.

President Bush is determined to stay out of the Middle East peace process. But the Iraq war forced him to turn to Arab allies for help. He had to push Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon back to peace. But Ariel Sharon changed the goalposts.
