Green Death of the Forests
Green Death of the Forest is an unusual film. It’s both a hard-hitting account of the causes and consequences of deforestation in Indonesia, and a film that captures the calm and stillness of wild nature. It contains no narration or dialogue, but still helps us understand the complex chain of goods.
Shot with a compact camera by a man on a tourist visa, it beat out a much larger production team and well-funded group to take home the most prestigious award in environmental filmmaking.
Green has to be taken seriously. This means that it and the issues it touches must be scrutinized critically. We hope this contributes to the action and thinking that Green is asking for. Because just looking at it is difficult, but what to do takes some thinking.
