The area connecting Great Britain to mainland Europe was probably established around 6500 BC. Victim of a powerful flood in BC. The discovery was made thanks to a moment of sheer serendipity. A fishing boat hauls a barbed spearhead in 1931. It wasn’t until two decades later, after the invention of carbon dating techniques, that scientists determined that the spear came from dry land that once existed on the ocean floor more than 16,000 years ago. Doggerland has continued to unearth various remains from the seafloor in recent years, including the skeletons of mammoths, rhinos and other roaming animals from the period.

The film tells the story of a region that holds secrets for hundreds of thousands of years. It’s an ambitious narrative with great authority and clarity.
