A social control documentary that examines the history, philosophy, and ultimately pathology of elite power.

Overall, HR is rough, but still full of gems. Take a moment to digest this – and take notes.

Scott Noble did an excellent job of dividing the 10 hours of material into two parts. He gives space to all the people he interviews…there’s a ton of ideas here, and he lets almost all of them unfold and breathe at his own pace.

The footage itself is low-fidelity, and some interviews feel like they’re going on too long or going in circles. Impressively, these moments are few and far between.

Noble can’t cover everything, but the film’s sheer scope makes it the most ambitious entry in this peculiar genre, more complete than A Century of Self and less hysterical than the Zeitgeist series.
