“Transformation 2.0” is a documentary about the transformation movement. Transformation inspires the creativity of people on the street, coming together across differences and making the most of their resources, energy and spirit.

It’s not about changing behavior, it’s about creating structures that are usable when needed. They appear when people realize they are needed.

The transformation is moving towards an economy where everyone has their own place, value and purpose. This includes purposeful environments, but also people. Transition is about engaging your community, building your community, and helping your community.

There are more than 1,800 transition initiatives around the world. It starts with a group of people coming together, and that group can come from different places. They may be a group of people who already know each other, or they may be a group of people who already know each other but have not formally collaborated. It could be a group of people meeting at an event or a bar and saying, “Why don’t we start the transition?”. But people initially coming together, forming teams, are the seeds of the whole process.

The groups were part of a five-year experiment that went through several phases. The first phase is “Getting Started”…the creative, fun, whirlwind phase where you screen the film, put up the poster, organize the event, raise awareness and start laying the groundwork for the transition plan.

The second phase is called “deepening,” where you suddenly realize that you’re becoming an organization and you need to get things a little more organized and formalized. “It feels very different from the first start-up phase. It feels like you’re part of an organization.
