After Epstein committed suicide in a lightly monitored New York cell in August 2019, a bewildering set of questions remained. His death has left little concern for his many traumatized victims and raised doubts about high-profile figures who might regain protection after his death. The documentary takes a sharply critical look at the power structure of the global elite and the role they played in protecting Epstein’s heinous behavior over the decades.
The film briefly chronicles Epstein’s rise to the top through wealth and influence, including his early investment career at Bear Stearns, his odd relationship with tycoon Leslie Wexner, and his keen involvement in U.S. finance. One of the largest Ponzi schemes in history. At the heart of Epstein’s loathsome legacy, of course, is the pedophilia and sex trafficking pyramid scheme he led for years, a criminal enterprise that resulted in hundreds of victims and countless enablers and accomplices.
No one has been more closely linked to Epstein’s illicit activities than Prince Andrew. The filmmakers claim that this connection is just the tip of the iceberg.
The film’s structure is based on a list of nearly four dozen questions related to Epstein’s crimes and possible death that have yet to be convincingly answered. These include practical issues such as the ways in which Epstein was able to increase his personal wealth, how he was able to avoid justice for decades, poor security arrangements that allowed him to die without anyone noticing, and autopsy results that disagreed with the verdict that it was suicide. One of the more imaginative questions the film raises is that the government may have fabricated the COVID-19 crisis to distract us from the Epstein saga.
Jeffrey Epstein: The Game of the Global Elite introduces legitimate concerns that should interest us all, but a large portion of the film will likely only appeal to viewers who enjoy the wildest conspiracy theories.
