The Bhopal disaster is one of the worst industrial disasters in the world in human history. An explosion at Union Carbide’s factory in downtown Bhopal sent toxic gases gushing to the ground from surrounding streets and killed thousands.
The gases also injured between 150,000 and 600,000 people. Six safeguards against gas leaks are either ineffective, ineffective, or insufficient. Additionally, security sirens that were supposed to alert the community in the event of an incident at the facility were turned off.
Combining drama and eyewitness accounts, the documentary tells the story of the night of disaster through the people who lived there.
The documentary follows five locals who witnessed the gas’s effects on sick people, a local police chief who helped restore a night’s sleep, and a young factory technician whose life was saved by an oxygen mask.
