Sacred Spirit of Water
Water is a living organism, water is sacred, water is life, water deserves to be defended and protected for the unborn. Alberta’s rivers and lakes don’t stop at provincial boundaries. These rivers and lakes flow through Canada and the United States, so everyone will be affected by the ominous bill.
This means that the previously 2.5 million protected lakes and rivers have been reduced to just 62 protected rivers and 97 lakes. If you enjoy the Canadian outdoors, camping, canoeing, boating, fishing and clean drinking water, you must be wondering how selling your water could affect you.
Treaties hinder the functioning of the federal government. Traditional treaty areas in Canada protect natural resources where quadrupeds, winged animals, aquatic animals, all your relatives and your human rights are no longer protected.
The government has cut $186 million from the First Nations Water and Sanitation Action Plan and shut down the entire program. The government is ignoring calls to provide Indigenous people with basic services that other Canadians have taken for granted.
