Seeds of Liberty tells the story of seeds, from their take root at the heart of traditional, diverse agricultural systems around the world, to their transformation into a powerful commodity used to monopolize the global food system.
The film demonstrates the extent to which industrial farming systems, especially genetically modified (GM) seeds, have influenced the vast amount of agricultural biodiversity developed by farmers and communities around the world since the dawn of agriculture.
Seeds of Freedom seeks to challenge the pro-GM lobby’s mantra that large-scale industrial farming is the only way we can feed the world. Tracing the history of seeds, it becomes clear how a corporate agenda drives the acquisition of seeds for huge profits and control of the global food system.
