Starsuckers, a documentary about celebrity obsession with media, reveals the real reasons behind our obsession with stardom and the companies and individuals who benefit from it.

Produced in total independence and secrecy for over 2 years, this film traverses the dark side of modern media. Combining never-before-seen footage, undercover reporting, stunts and animation, the film demonstrates the harmful influence the media has on all of us, but especially our children.

Chris Atkins presents Starsuckers as a series of five lessons about fame in the modern world: how kids believe fame is something they want, how TV and the media emphasize the importance of fame and getting it efforts, how mind and body strengthen our need to pay attention to the activities of famous people and strive to join their ranks, how the media is obsessed with celebrity coverage, and how the art of promoting fame leads celebrities and their followers to control the media rather than let it speak.

Along the way, Atkins shows how celebrity news actually gets printed without any foundation, why newspapers publish press releases almost verbatim, and how parents are eager to cede image rights to their children , how certain crowdfunding campaigns end up helping artists far more than the causes they support, and how publicists keep accurate but unflattering stories in the news.
