VICE has become connected to a group of young addicts caught up in South Wales’ heroin epidemic.

An in-depth look at her life shows how economic depression, family breakdown and drug addiction create unbreakable cycles for those under her.

In 2009, the Swansea Drug Enforcement Agency reported a 180 per cent increase in heroin use, and it was ubiquitous on the city’s streets.

Early one morning, we came across a young homeless couple named Amy and Cornelius in a downtown alleyway. As heroin-addicted alcoholics, they found themselves in the midst of two of South Wales’ most prevalent epidemics.

The creators of Swansea Love Story described it as “funny and sad, warm and heartbreaking” about the protagonist’s real life.
