The film has contributions from more than 50 politicians, scientists and environmental activists, including former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai and journalist Paul Hawken, documenting the serious problems facing Earth’s living systems.

Global warming, deforestation, mass extinctions and the depletion of marine habitats are all addressed. The premise of the film is that the future of humanity is at stake. The film proposes possible solutions to these problems, calling for restorative action by reshaping and rethinking human activity around the globe through technology, social responsibility, and conservation.

Not all scientists agree that global warming is an imminent threat. Although obviously every scientist in this movie does. Every expert interviewed emphasized the imperative of human involvement in the fight against global warming. That’s because the film documents increasing anthropogenic cycles as the main cause of climate change.

The role of humans in the destruction of the environment is explained from the perspective of different professions: environmental scientists, oceanographers, economic historians, medical scientists, etc. The best example comes from the philosopher Wade Davis, who theorized about humans, “You are the person or the property,” referring to the human perception of land and natural resources.
