The Canary Effect is a documentary that examines the impact of the United States and its policies on the indigenous peoples (Native Americans) who live there.

It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the Stanley Kubrick Award at the 2006 Traverse City Film Festival (hosted by Michael Moore).

The film is directed by Robin Davey and Yellow Thunder Woman, members of Los Angeles alternative pop band The Bastard Fairies.

Delving into the often misunderstood and overlooked historical realities of American Indians, The Canary Effect recounts the horrific and horrific mistreatment of Native Americans in North America and details the U.S. government’s genocide and its lasting impact on Indian Nation today .

Featuring interviews with leading scholars and experts on India, including controversial author Ward Churchill, the film brings together past and present with unprecedented eloquence and boldness.
