The First World War

Despite being considered a less significant event than the Second World War, it was actually the turning point of the 20th century.

This dispute had an effect on the world that followed in the manner it did. It fueled the development of Soviet communism in Russia, which has since disintegrated over a span of approximately 11.5 years. This has had an effect on international diplomacy and economics worldwide.

The loss of Germany to the Allies allowed fascism and Adolf Hitler to take power there, which led to the Second World War and its greater destruction.

The downfall of the Ottoman Empire during the First World War and the ensuing diplomatic and political mess were the catalyst for the re-formation of Israel, today the Middle East is considered the primary focus.

This series is derived from the books and encyclopedic knowledge of Professor Hugh Strachan. It investigates every aspect of the conflict, from its origins to the way it was conducted on and behind the battlefield to its effects.

Through this, it encompasses the diplomatic, political, military and social aspects, each of which had an effect on the outcome and the reason. It doesn’t just summarize the basic information, but instead goes into greater detail in its explanations.

For instance, instead of simply depicting the spring of 1918 German offensive on the western front, it discusses the specifics of how they accomplished it, the soldiers’ attitudes and the thoughts of their superiors.
