Eight hundred years ago, Temujin, the king of the universe, also known as Genghis Khan, successfully established the largest empire in human history. It all started in 1190, when Genghis Khan managed to combine the various nomadic tribes of Mongolia into a mighty army of 200,000 men.

This and his undoubted military genius enabled him to conquer vast territories stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the heart of Europe, and from northern Siberia to India, Iran, and Turkey. His army is small in scale, strict in discipline, and excellent in coordination. It is basically composed of ten thousand horses and horses, with innovative military capabilities and strong mobility. Mongolian nomadic tribes lived in the wild, and their tactics included surprise attacks on the enemy’s flanks and rear before launching a heavy cavalry charge.

After the era of Genghis Khan, a series of civil wars plunged the country into chaos until Buddhism was established as a form of government in 1578. Two centuries later, the Mongols came under Chinese control until the country converted to communism in 1924 with the creation of the Soviet bloc and became a Soviet satellite.

With the arrival of the Russians, Mongolia underwent rapid changes, modernization and industrialization…buildings, bridges, roads, railways, factories and schools were constructed and nomads watched in amazement as their country transformed from a primitive society to a modern one . 20th century progress overnight.

Ulaanbaatar became the new cosmopolitan city of the revitalized country, designed to meet ruthless Soviet urban planning standards. But with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the subsequent disintegration of the Eastern Bloc, Russians came and went.

Overnight, Mongolia was completely paralyzed, politically and economically collapsed, and has yet to fully recover. Since then, the city has deteriorated rapidly, with residents doing everything they can to survive.
