The Algonquians once lived in harmony with the vast territories they occupied. This balance was upset when Europeans arrived in the 16th century.
Gradually, their Aboriginal traditions were eroded and their natural resources plundered.
Today, fewer than 9,000 Algonquins remain. They live in about 10 communities and often suffer from extreme poverty and human rights violations. These Aboriginal people suffer in silence when their livelihoods are threatened.
Richard Desjardins and Robert Monderie decided to sound the alarm before it was too late. They challenge perceptions by highlighting the tragic reality of the Algonquin people of Quebec and bringing the history of this people to the big screen for the first time.
