The Iron Wall

From that day on, these words became the official and unspoken policy of the Zionist movement and later the State of Israel. Settlements have been used from the beginning to establish a Zionist base in Palestine.

After the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 1967, the goal of the settlement movement became clear – to establish facts on the ground and make the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible. 39 years of occupation and politics are starting to show results. There are now more than 200 settlements and outposts scattered across the West Bank, blocking the geographical possibilities of the Palestinian territories.

The documentary Iron Wall sheds light on this phenomenon, documenting the age, size, population and impact of the settlements on the peace process. The film also touches on the recent project that made settlements a permanent fact on the ground – the Israeli-built wall in the West Bank and its impact on the Palestinian population.

Settlements and associated infrastructure affect every aspect of the lives of all Palestinians, from confiscation of land, theft of natural resources, confiscation of basic human rights, and establishment of an apartheid-like system, to their devastating impact on the future of Palestine, the region and the prospects for the peace process.

The Palestinians and Israelis started the peace process based on a very simple principle: land for peace. Settlements undermine this principle and create a country without peace.
