Nobody knows it better than the 32 girls who make up The Twinkles, an elite youth cheerleading squad from Freehold, New Jersey. The 8- to 12-year-old girls who make up the elite Twinkles team are the country’s top youth cheerleaders and some of the most talented young athletes in the world. Born to be competitors, the girls of this premier team travel the country to compete in national competitions, all after one thing: the championship jacket, which is given to every team member who finishes first in the All-Star Cheerleading World Cup. Under constant pressure from their parents, coaches and teammates, these girls sacrificed everything to train with a determination and perseverance that rivaled most professional athletes.
Known for best teams in America, the documentary delves into what each Twinkles girl must go through every day to achieve their goals as All-Star cheerleaders. From choreography to hairspray and makeup, these aspiring Jersey beauties are chic and glamorous. For them, cheerleading is a way of life that drives everything they do.
Coaches, Cheer Moms, and some of them Cheer Dads provide these rising superstars with tremendous support, encouragement, and sometimes harsh criticism. From the moment these girls learn to walk, they are groomed and trained to be their best. Led by their sisters, mothers, and grandmas, they became outstanding cheerleaders, and many of these young girls strive to continue their cheerleading tradition.
