An extraordinary glimpse into the mysterious world of the Amish Old Order in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. When two radical Amish men, Ephraim and Jesse Stoltzfus, begin to question some of the most fundamental aspects of their Amish culture, they are excommunicated and outright rejected by their friends and family.
The Amish came to America 300 years ago and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and today approximately 30,000 hardworking Amish live around their churches, homes and country.
Apart from a strict and simple dress code, they have no cars, electricity or modern technology. The show follows two men who let us into their private world as, while their Christian faith is strong, they begin to question the authority and rules of the Almighty Bishop. They were eventually excommunicated for not obeying strict Amish laws, but that’s not the end of the story.
