In the 1970s, a mysterious and deadly disease begins to infect children in a small Connecticut town. Today, it is a global epidemic.
A true thriller, this searing holiday blockbuster sheds light on the controversy surrounding chronic Lyme disease. Based on the stories of people fighting to survive, director Andy Abrahams Wilson uses beauty and horror to reveal an unbalanced natural world and a humanity that is too willing to put profits before patients.
The film follows the stories of six people, including Major League Baseball player Ben Petrick, who reported chronic symptoms they attributed to an ongoing Lyme infection. Much of the film is devoted to the stories of these patients and their reported recovery.
The film also focuses on the state medical board’s investigation of Joseph Jemsek and Ray Jones, two doctors who prescribe long-term antibiotics for “chronic” Lyme disease.
