Wegmans Cruelty
Wegman’s Cruelty is a half-hour documentary produced by the investigative team from Compassionate Consumers. Members of the group contacted Wegmans Food Markets in an attempt to have a meaningful conversation about the situation at Wegmans egg farms, but were subsequently misled and dismissed by Wegmans representatives. The team set out to capture real footage inside the farm and create a film based on their experiences.
The film includes testimony from Wegman’s representatives, interviews with investigators, and life-and-death footage inside the battery cage facility. About 98 percent of all eggs produced in the United States come from caged hens. Customers are often unwittingly supporting modern egg farming practices by purchasing eggs.
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a supermarket chain with 68 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia.
